Pastor Oliver LaMont King

Pastor Oliver LaMont King, a native of Ruffin, North Carolina, was born October 03, 1970, to Mr. George O. King and the late Mrs.Wilda Maxine King. He is the youngest of 3 children- two girls and one boy.

Elder King obtained his primary and secondary education within the public schools of Organ Hill, North Carolina and Wentworth, North Carolina, both located in Rockingham County . In 1988, after completing high school at Rockingham County Senior High, he entered Rockingham Community College as an aspiring freshman. His focus and field of study was Business Administration . After his two years of attending the community college, Pastor King secured employment with United Parcel Service and worked there for 9 years. He later became emplyed by ITG brands in Reidsville, NC and worked there dilgentlyfor 20 years until the plant closed. He is currently self-employed as the owner and operator of ProsperityMart.shop and Good Sense,LLC.

After accepting the call of Jesus Christ to the Ministry of Christianity in October of 2000, Elder King was licensed by Pastor Reginald B. Kellam of Sharon Missionary Baptist Church.

In 2006, Pastor King became a highly involved Associate Minister and Devotional Leader at St. James Home of Fresh Start in Greensboro, North Carolina under the leadership of Bishop James R. Woodson, II. It is under Bishop Woodson's leadership that he was groomed for his Pastoral role at Assembly Chapel. Pastor King was Ordained by Bishop James Woodson and Moderator Bishop Robert Daniels in March 2010 and in April of 2010 was installed as Pastor of Assembly Chapel. Several years after his installation, he enrolled in Omega Bible Institute and Seminary where he received his Bachelor's Degree in Ministry on February 8,2022. He is currently persuing his Master's Degree in Christian Counseling.

Presently, under Pastor King's excellent leadership, Assembly Chapel is experiencing a holistic ministry that is spirit-filled. Under his leadership new ministries such as the youth ministry A.C. E. (Assembly's Children of Excellence), Youth Sunday School, Youth Bible Study, the Utility Ministry and the Women's Fellowship Bible Study Group have been established.

Pastor King's emphasis on the need for spiritual growth and development through the teaching of God's Word, has resulted in dramatically increased attendance at Bible Study and Sunday School as well as regular Sunday Service attendance.

Under Pastor King's leadership Assembly Chapel has grown spiritually (through meaningful worship and increased love and fellowship), numerically, and structurally (with the addition of a paved parking lot, an enlarged and more accessable entry way, additional handicap parking and a heated baptistry pool).

Pastor King continually strives for a better more diverse church and community through Christ Jesus. This is evident through the boundless energy he displays, and his enthusiasm for the growth and productivity of Assembly Chapel Progressive Primitive Baptist Church, and for all of mankind everywhere.

Pastor King is married to Mrs. Celena DeJarnette King, and sharing in their joy are their three handsome sons: Douglas, Daunte', and DuRon.
